Visit to České Budějovice and Český Krumlov

After a long trip the previous day to get to Jihlava, on Sunday the 6th we paid a visit to two cities of the Czech Republic.

First, we got to the city of  České Budějovice, where we visited world well-known Budweiser brewery.  This beer is internationally known as Budějovický Budvar.

The brewery has been working since 1896, although there is some news of beer making since the 16th century. Beer is elaborated strictly following Plzen method, better known by its German name, Pilsen. To get it, malt from Moravia is used, low hardness water and Czech hop from Žatec, all fermented with low fermentation yeast.

After visiting Budweiser brewery, we went to the city centre. The city is placed in the south of the Czech Republic, near the Austrian border, and it is the capital city of Southern Bohemia.

We visited the old town, with Přemysl Otakar II square as the main landmark, and we spent some hours walking through its streets. Eva and Honza acted as tourist guides and showed to us the most important aspects of the city in an amazing way, all this next to Samson fountain (Samsonova kašna), in the centre of the square.

It is a very famous city in the country, amongst other things, for the Southern Bohemia University.

After seen  České Budejovice we went by coach to Český Krumlov, Human Heritage of Unesco in 1992. We passed under the archs of its castle-palace towards the old part of the city. We crossed a bridge over the river Vltava (also known as Moldava) and we went into its cared streets with special and well preserved buildings.

It is clear that the richest and most influential aristocracy lived there and, no doubt, it is one of the most beautiful towns in Europe.

After a short walk across its streets, we started the way back to Jihlava. It was a long day, but very intense and fruitful.
