Gymnázium Jihlava

Gymnázium Jihlava is situated in the Jana Masaryka’s street in the center of Jihlava. It was founded in 1919, but it’s history has been written since the 13th century.

The school has currently about 800 students from 11 years to 19 years old. They are accepted by the entrance exams of Mathematics and Czech language and literature. Students can choose between the four year study or the four year study with the sports training, younger pupils choose the six or eight years of study. The program Erasmus+ engages the students older than 15 years.

Study program consists of compulsory and elective subjects. In the first year of higher study students choose second language (Spanish, German, Russian, French) and music or art. In the second year they choose one two-hours subject. In the fourth year in schedule stay only czech, maths, foreign languages, social sciences, I.T. and P.E., other two two hours subjects and two three hours subjects are elective.  Students choose from the language, social science, science or physical education. The study is completed by the graduation exams. The most of the students continue in study at one of the universities.

School starts at 8 a.m., eventual„zero lessons“ at 7:10 a.m. Besides teaching school organises also sports trips, trips to foreign countries, concerts, lectures, excursions and many other events.
