History of the choir HSGJ

The choir of Jihlava’s grammar school (HSGJ) was founded in September, 1997 by teacher Marie Némová. Nowadays it’s a society with about 40 members and the choirmaster is Dagmar Němečková from the year 2010.  It is attended by students at the age from 12 to 19 and two teachers including one pianist.

The repertoire of the choir includes folk and popular songs from all ages. Members of the choir tried to sing in many different languages – Czech, English, German, Spanish, Latin, Slovak, ... However, they tried also Hebrew, Swahili or dragon language!

The choir performs at concerts, competitions or events of region Vysočina but it also has experience from abroad – from Greece, Finland, Portugal, Great Britain or Germany. It brought out two CDs in years 2002 and 2013.
