Antonio de Cabezón and Gustav Mahler

On Thursday 10th, we stayed in Jihlava, but with a great variety of activities.

In the morning, as soon as we arrived at Gymnázium, we exhibited our Project about Antonio de Cabezón to the Czech students and teachers. First of all, Alberto made a presentation in Englihs for those Czech students who can’t speak Spanish, and after that, he did the same presentation, but in Spanish, for those Czech students who study Spanish as a second foreign language.

After every exhibition, there was a small performance of what will be played next Monday: “Cantigas” (guitar quartet and regional dancing), and “Malagueña” (guitar).

The Czech audience seemed to be interested in the exhibition and amazed with the performance.

There was also a presentation and exhibition of the posters about Antonio de Cabezón, the history of the Spanish Baroque and the Golden Age of Spanish cultura.

In the afternoon, we went to Vysočina Regional Museum (region whose capital city is Jihlava). There, we could travel through the history of Jihlava and the region through its posters, costumes, models and historic objects. We could even make some copies in cardboard of old dies of silver coins.

At the end, we left the museum and went into the city streets, going over those places in Jihlava which had some contact with Gustav Mahler, and we made the workshop “Following Gustav Mahler’s prints”. In some places we could even listen to a part of his work, which is directly related with the city.

To finish the day, we went directly to Gustav Mahler’s House, near the main square in Jihlava.

There, we could understand the history of the time when Gustav Mahler lived, the places where he lived in, his musical work, his life in Jihlava,… and we could also see some curiosities, such as imposible instruments…
