Covarrubias

On Thursday fifth the march, after we talked about Gustav Mahler in the school with students, we headed to small town Covarrubias, which is near Lerma. I had a host family there so I didn’t have to travel back to Lerma. Our original plan was to visit local art school, see art lessons and sing some folk music there. But the art school was closed because of technical issues. So we had a walk through the town. We had special guide, Darío López Nebreda which is student of IES Valle del Arlanza in Lerma, who took part in individual mobility project Comenius so he studied for 3 months at Gymnázium Jihlava in the Czech Republic. He also showed us typical Castille architecture. House of Doña Sancha is nice example. Our group photo was took at town gate, which serves as town archive. Next object of our visit was fantastic colegiat church dedicated to st. Kosmos and st. Damián. In this church were two organs which included horizontal whistles, but it didn’t surprise us because we have visited organs workshop earlier in Spain so we learned about this speciality of Spanish organs. And because sacristan was so hooked of our singing we didn’t have to pay entry fee.
