Dances of region Horácko

As everyone of participants of Jihlava-Lerma trip, I had my part too. Since I am member of folklore group Pramínek, which performs traditional dances and songs of region Horácko, my task was to teach other choir members traditional dances. The choosing of dances wasn't easy. My intention was to find dances, which would be easy to teach our Spanish friends. After discussion with leader of Pramínek Mr. Brtník we chose dances Kominíček, Boleslav, Řezanka and Čí je děvče. All of these dances are in two-four rhythm, but with various dance elements. In dance Kominíček there is polka mixed with claps. The dance Boleslav is specific. The pairs dances polka in a circle, but on the beginning of the melody two opposite pairs swaps their places. The dance Řezanka are pairs dancing while holding just their hands. The dance Čí je děvče is different from all the others. It is not danced in pairs, but in triplets (one boy and two girls).

We started with training with four boys and four girls months before our trip to Spain. Because of we are choir members, we started with songs, which accompanies the dances. Then we trained single dances during dozen of trainings. We had instructors from Pramínek on some of the lessons. One of the most interesting parts were folk costumes. Every dancer had his own costume in which he then performed.

We performed our show in Spain during several occasions. One of the most successful performance was in artificial village Quintanilla del Aqua, which was built by artist Felix. There we had commented visit, which was terminated with our performance on the local square. We finally teach our Spanish friends dance polka.
